The LIQUID EGGPLANT BAG is a swollen artifact of digital sensuality and corporeal distortion. With its bulbous purple body and melting green rim, it echoes the emoji-as-object, the meme-as-material. Functioning as both a bag and a sculpture, the piece suggests vegetal flesh caught mid-transformation, not edible, but insistently tactile. The amorphous silhouette slouches under its own weight, defying clean geometry. Equal parts grotesque and seductive, it performs the absurdity of function and desire colliding in object form.
Hand-built in Guadalajara, the LIQUID EGGPLANT BAG begins as a structure using tanned leather. Once dried, the leather is hand-painted with custom dyes to achieve the illusion of rippling skin and organic saturation. The green “drip” is shaped from leather softened in a steam bath, then sculpted by hand before being sealed with a high-gloss finish. Each piece is slightly unique due to the unpredictability of the forming process, no two eggplants are the same.
